Coastal Surveillance systems must provide technologies of detecting vessels, allowing them to be identified, monitored, directed or intercepted.

Long range detection and identification is essential in that process. A combination of Radar technology with Active Range Gating System and Thermal Imaging can allow efficient coastal surveillance in difficult lighting conditions when other technologies have difficulties, particularly with parasitic light sources or in adverse weather conditions.

Thermal Imaging systems can detect minute temperature differences in the scene. These cameras are not sensitive to light and create pictures due to their sensitivity to heat, day or night.

Unlike other night vision technologies, range gating does not require ambient light sources or suitable moonlight to function effectively. Through range gating, the camera obtains smooth, accurate images — no over-exposure, no blank shots, and no wasted footage. Vessels and people can be identified at night at extraordinary distances.
